In this first of 2 taster gatherings in Bristol you’ll be introduced to the general themes of the nomadic art school and experience a full day workshop, intended as an introductory session leading into the 8 branches which make up the full yearly cycle.
During this 3rd harvest gathering you’ll be guided through land meditation practice and foraging explorations in the grounds of Ashton Court. Your group experience being supported through a sensory sharing circle, before moving on to somatic practice and communal art making in the afternoon. This is a mutually supportive rhizomic learning experience where the individual participants present help to shape how the creativity unfolds. Each gathering being unique to the humans involved.
The aim of MARE is to facilitate and encourage an other way of doing art school. Through introducing reverence and consideration of more than human ecologies and kin alongside examination of land based spiritualities and knowledge.
This gathering day is open to any artist, musician, writer, thinker, dreamer , psychologist, carer, educator or other community builders who want to work in ‘right relationship’ with the more than human and our shared worlds. Bringing practices of spiritual ecology, folk-lore and folk magics into contemporary art practices.
